Position Description:
 

The School of Engineering at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in the area of Mechanical Engineering at the level of Assistant Professor. Applicants must have research expertise at the intersection of advanced manufacturing systems and process, automation, controls and artificial intelligence. Preference will be given to those who utilize artificial intelligence to innovate, enhance efficiency, and foster the digital transformation of manufacturing systems and processes within the framework of Industry 4.0. The ideal candidate will develop an internationally recognized, externally funded, and independent research program, supervise graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate will be expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, develop and teach innovative graduate and undergraduate courses in area(s) of manufacturing and machine learning, and contribute to teaching design courses, and provide service to the University and the engineering profession.   Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (or other province) is preferred for this position.

 

The candidate must hold an undergraduate university degree in mechanical engineering (or related discipline) and an earned PhD in mechanical, or a closely related field. Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is a requirement of this position at the time of hiring, and priority will be given to those with P.Eng registration.
