General Purpose
Open Learning and Educational Support (OpenEd) – soon to be the School of Continuing Studies - is an integral part of the University of Guelph’s learner-centred and research-intensive mission. Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Business Development Manager - Canada and the Business Development Manager - International, the Business Development Coordinator (BDC) will support OpenEd’s work in identifying potential new business-to-business (B2B) opportunities and moving business trough the steps of OpenEd’s sales funnel from awareness and leads, through to handing over delivery of projects to new product development and/or program management teams. The BDC will work collaboratively with multiple staff members within OpenEd such as Marketing, Program Management, English Language Programs, and Program Development, as well as with various stakeholders within the University of Guelph campus to ensure successful collaboration across the University. In addition to B2B Business Development, the BDC will also work to enhance OpenEd’s International Business opportunities by conducting market research to assess trends within international education markets, qualify new agent partnerships for international businesses and actively identify potential new international partnerships. The BDC will also assist in developing B2C relationships with international students and families through on and off campus recruiting activities and visits.
Requirements
- Three-year Community College diploma in Business, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a business development or administrative role is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce or HubSpot and experience using LinkedIn Sales Navigator are considered assets.
- Strong cold contact and relationship-building skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and excellent organizational, problem-solving, English writing, high level of intercultural competence and presentation skills. Additional language skills, such as Chinese, Arabic, or Spanish, and experience in post-secondary or international education would be advantageous.
