Position Description:
The School of Engineering at the University of Guelph invites applications from outstanding individuals for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date for this appointment is July 1, 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date in the year 2025.
The School of Engineering is seeking to hire a faculty member in biomedical engineering who has a breadth of expertise in biomaterials, biomedical devices, biomechanics and computational mechanics with applications in human health. The successful candidate will have experience and demonstrated research excellence in one or more of the following areas: Biocompatibility, Bioprinting, Bioscaffolds, Drug Delivery, Energy Storage Materials, Nanostructured Materials, Organ on a Chip, Prosthetic Materials (external and/or implantable), Regenerative Medicine, and/or Tissue Engineering. Expertise in the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence in biomaterial development and application would also be an asset. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to establishing an internationally recognized research program, including both internal (U of Guelph) and external collaborations. Postdoctoral experience in academic, clinical, or industry setting(s) would be viewed as an asset.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Demonstrated ability to teach large (200+ students) classes would be an asset. Supervision of both undergraduate and graduate student curricular and extracurricular design teams is expected.
The candidate should have a Bachelor of Engineering degree and a doctoral degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. The candidate must have, or be eligible for, an engineering license for practice in Canada.
The University of Guelph has seven well-established, accredited undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Systems and Computing, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering. At present, the school is comprised of over 61 faculty members, 33 staff and technicians, 1800 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students.
