Duties and Responsibilities
Working under the direction of Dr. Isabelle Aicklen in the field crop weed management research program, the Research Assistant/Technician IV will be responsible for all aspects of the field crop weed management research program at Ridgetown Campus in Ridgetown, Ontario and at off-station field sites. The successful incumbent will be required to operate all farm machinery required for field crop research, including tractors, combines, plows, cultivators, planters, sprayers, fertilizer spreaders, etc. The incumbent will be required to use the Microsoft Office software package plus research specific software. Additional skills in statistical analysis and scientific writing are an asset. Knowledge of weed identification and small-plot research techniques is required. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of the weed management trials in corn, soybean, dry bean, cereals, and other crops at the station and at off-station locations including seedbed preparation, planting, applying herbicide treatments, crop injury and weed control assessments, harvesting, and data input and summarization.
Requirements
University diploma, BSc. or MSc. degree in relevant discipline, with at least 1 to 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ontario Class AR (restricted class A) license is an asset but not a requirement.
