General Purpose
University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus is located in the town of Ridgetown (between London & Windsor, ON).
The Business Development Centre (BDC) delivers province-wide training and certification in agriculture, food, and environmental sustainability, and coordinates conferences and industry events that drive knowledge exchange across Ontario.
As a Project Coordinator with the BDC, you will be the primary point of contact for external partners, translating their objectives into detailed project plans and guiding a range of initiatives to successful completion—on time and within budget. Each contract brings a unique scope of work, creating a fast-paced environment that demands adaptability, strong initiative, and confident decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Partnership Development: Build and sustain strong relationships with government, industry and association partners. Clarify their priorities, keep them informed with timely, professional updates, and identify opportunities to deepen existing collaborations or launch new ones.
- Conference & Event Planning: Lead end-to-end logistics for conferences, workshops and other events: develop timelines and budgets; secure venues; coordinate speakers, catering, A/V and registration platforms; manage sponsor or exhibitor needs; guide on-site staff; and evaluate outcomes to improve future events.
- Learning Development: Partner with subject-matter experts to design, develop and update training resources. Create AODA/WCAG-compliant content in Word, PowerPoint and rapid-authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and Rise. Manage courses in the LMS—uploading, organizing and updating content, monitoring engagement and resolving technical issues.
- Project Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scopes, timelines, budgets, and workplans. Track progress and maintain accurate records of project metrics, spending, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Provide regular reports to stakeholders, complete evaluation summaries, and ensure timely reconciliation of project budgets.
- Staff Development & Support: Provide day-to-day guidance, encouragement and knowledge sharing that builds team confidence and capability. Share best practices and champion process improvements that foster a flexible, service-oriented culture.
Requirements
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Project Management, Adult Education, Agriculture or a related field - or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
Experience:
- Minimum three years of experience coordinating projects, events, or training programs in a professional setting.
Skills and knowledge:
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Experience collaborating with government, academic, or industry partners considered an asset
- Proficient in creating AODA/WCAG-compliant resources with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Articulate Storyline, and Rise
- Working knowledge of learning-management systems (uploading, organizing, and maintaining course content)
- Familiarity with event technology (registration software, basic A/V coordination) and virtual-meeting platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom)
- Comfortable troubleshooting minor technical issues related to A/V, digital content, and LMS platforms; quick to learn new digital tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting professional correspondence and stakeholder updates
- Experience supporting or mentoring team members and contributing to process improvements

Professional/Managerial Salary Bands
The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
