General Purpose
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) is the front-line contact for the Business Development Centre (BDC). You’ll support conference and training events, answering inquiries, guiding clients through registrations and certification processes, and coordinating the logistical details that make events run smoothly. Programs vary, so the work is diverse, fast-paced, and service oriented.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Client service & registrations: Answer phone/email inquiries, explain program details and policies, process registrations and payments, send confirmations, manage waitlists/changes, and protect client confidentiality.
- Conference & training logistics: Book rooms, schedule sessions, coordinate catering and A/V; prepare on-site materials; support room setups and basic A/V; liaise with venues and service providers.
- Event partner support: Communicate deadlines and details with event partners (e.g. facilitators, presenters, sponsors, service vendors, etc.), collect bios/presentations, provide session materials, coordinate accommodations/meals when required, and ensure their on-site needs are met.
- Data, certifications & reporting: Create sessions in the database, complete accurate data entry, send certificates, keep records organized, run summary reports, and compile evaluations.
- Shipping & inventory: Prepare and ship event/training materials, track inventory and supplies.
- Digital updates & accessibility: Update web/content and edit materials with Project Coordinators to meet AODA requirements.
Requirements
- High School graduation. Two-year Community College Diploma in a relevant discipline preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills and planning skills with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook 365), and the ability to learn and adapt to specialized software systems
- Demonstrate tact, diplomacy, patience and sensitivity to issues, concerns and needs of staff and clients.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working in conferences or similar events is an asset.
