General Purpose
The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) is a global leader of scientific knowledge and applied learning that aims to tackle complex challenges facing our world. We are founded in agriculture and connected to all things related to food, animals, communities and the environment. OAC is comprised of 6 academic units and Ridgetown Campus, and currently has approximately 3,700 diploma, undergraduate and graduate students, 140 faculty and 600 staff members. Reporting to the Administrative Officer, the Staffing Support Clerk is responsible for providing human resources related administrative support and processing to the College’s units.
Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include supporting various departments within OAC College with HR-related administrative tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to, recruitment, maintaining personnel records with the Gryphons at Work system, payroll related tasks, preparing offer letters, and processing LMIA applications. Additional duties include tracking vacation and absences, assisting with URA/USRA, Work Study, and Summer Experience Programs, as well as updating and maintaining the OAC and departmental HR intranet sites. The role also requires providing backup for other administrative tasks, such as coordinating interviews, managing key assignments, handling reception duties, and booking vehicles, rooms, and other resources.
Requirements
Two (2) years Community College in payroll administration, human resources or related field along with one year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional requirements include: attention to detail; strong organizational skills; knowledge of email, Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, teams); the ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team; strong written and oral communication skills; and the ability to prioritize tasks in a high volume environment.
Experience working in an academic department; experience with University Human Resource polices, payroll, and experience with human resource systems would be considered assets.
