General Purpose
The Sr. Consultant, Learning & Organizational Development, works collaboratively with members of the University community to support the university’s delivery on its strategic priorities, unit level strategic and business plans and commitments to a positive work culture. Working closely with the Director and other team members, the Sr. Consultant contributes by supporting organizational change initiatives and capacity building through ongoing needs assessment, identification of opportunities, developing, facilitating, and evaluating data-informed initiatives guided by professional standards, organizational values and commitments to equity, diversity, inclusion and employee well-being.
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent works as part of the HR Learning & Organizational Development Team, and in consultation with HR colleagues, to provide learning programs that respond to the leadership and professional development needs of Staff and Faculty; to provide consulting and coaching services to various teams, departments and colleges that respond to requests for positive change, development or innovation; develops and implements organizational effectiveness initiatives that contributes to the delivery and continuous enhancement of the University of Guelph’s performance success strategy, employee appreciation and recognition and onboarding programs.
The Sr. Consultant takes leadership for a variety of specialized projects, anticipating and researching new trends and good practice, developing methods to determine the value/effectiveness of programs; develops strong partnerships with HR specialists, and internal clients. They are a passionate advocate and role model for effective leadership, continuous learning, health and well-being, equity, diversity and inclusion, and employee engagement as conduits to the UofG’s continued success.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Adult Education, Organizational Development or a related field, combined with a minimum of four years’ related experience.
- Post graduate training/education in at least two of the following disciplines: adult education, facilitation, organizational development, coaching, conflict resolution.
- Experience with and a high level of theoretical and practical knowledge of adult education principles, learning design, facilitation, and coaching techniques.
- Experience in group facilitation and consultation practices.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint and, Excel.
- Facility with technology and social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to others and to build strong relationships.
- Strong problem solving, strategic and creative thinking skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize demands.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement and tact when dealing with high level confidential situations and information.
