Duties and Responsibilites
Reporting to the Data Strategy Program Manager in the Office of Institutional Research and Planning, the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst serves as a key resource in implementing the University Institutional Data Strategy, including data product use cases, data governance and modern data architecture.
The incumbent be involved in leading advanced business intelligence activities including but not limited to data analysis & data modeling, providing input to enterprise-wide data architecture on requirements to support business outcomes, leading projects/programs related to institutional data governance and special predictive and prescriptive analytics data projects within the Office of Institutional Research and Planning.
The incumbent will lead projects with key stakeholders, academic and administrative units and IT partners to define requirements, identify source data, create appropriate data and analytical models, algorithms and designs, and promote data quality to support the creation of a modern logical data warehouse and data governance to enable self-service access to data and information for decision-making. They will also provide mentorship and training to other data reporting specialists and analysts within the Institutional Research Office and across the University, while also validate and verify the work of other data reporting analysts and guide on data governance and best practices to enable data-driven decision making at the University.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in information science, stats or mathematics, computer science or related field.
- At least 3 years related experience.
- Advanced skills in the area of data analysis and reporting.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills to be able to work with enterprise reporting business and technical stakeholders.
- Experience modeling and integrating data from multiple sources for business intelligence in a University/Higher Ed environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of modern data technologies and approaches: data virtualization, NoSQL, big data.
- Knowledge of database design, SQL, and data warehousing, and data models.
- Excellent business analysis and communication skills.
- Experience with data science tools (SAS, Tableau, R, Python etc.).
- Ability to liaise with both business and IT to help define requirements and solutions to support data strategy.
- Understanding of University data analytic and reporting needs.
- Understanding and knowledge of institutional data governance and the structures needed to support.
- Ability to write technical documentation.
- Experience working with relational and non-relational data.
