General Purpose:
The Residence Porter is a key person in the Student Housing Operation. Porters are front line staff providing direct service to student and conference delegate needs through the Residence Desk function and the Facilities Management operation. Porter staff provide direct service to residence students (mid August to May), and in the summer months to conference delegates /summer hostel guests as well as summer residence students (May to August).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Porter staff are scheduled to work at one (out of three) Residence Desks. The Residence Desks provide service to approximately 5,000 residence students. In the summer months, Porters provide the material handling and materials management function within Student Housing and the residence buildings. Porters provide daily residence facilities materials handling/movement function throughout the year. Porters are front line staff having direct contact with our student clients.
Requirements:
- Full G Driver’s License
- Completion of grade 11 or equivalent
- Customer service and front-line experience
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to lift and carry furniture, and stand for periods of time
- Availability to work non-traditional shifts such as late evenings and weekends
