General Purpose

Reporting to the Associate Director, Capital Development and Project Delivery, in the Campus Planning, Design and Development Department, the Project Manager will be responsible for overall management and leadership for the delivery of complex small to large capital and renovation projects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide project management and construction co-ordination expertise for multiple design and construction projects and their respective client relationships.
  • Participate in prequalification of consultants and contractors.
  • Prepare reports and project briefs for major capital projects and other building additions or renovations.
  • Prepare project and construction budgets, ensuring that each project remains on budget and on schedule.
  • Complete compliance and technical reviews of existing building and infrastructure conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable University and government policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines.
  • Other associated duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in architecture or engineering or a related discipline, combined with a minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in the planning and delivery of institutional projects.
  • Experience in financial analysis, project cost control and critical path scheduling.
  • Demonstrate an ability to manage and direct professional consulting teams.
  • Strong communication skills, coupled with the ability to work as a team member.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to define and meet project objectives.
  • Highly developed analytical and negotiating skills.
  • Computer skills related to design and project management are required.

 

What Will Give You The Edge

  • Have or are eligible to obtain membership in the Ontario Association of Architects or the Association of Professional Engineers
  • MAATO, CET, or a PMP designation with extensive experience in design and construction of buildings

The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
