General Purpose

The Program Manager (PM) will join the Canadian One Health Training Program for Emerging Zoonoses (COHTPEZ) team, headed by Dr. Jane Parmley. The PM’s main responsibility will be to lead the day-to-day operations of the training program and coordinate program activities.

 

The goal of the COHTPEZ is to develop a connected community of highly skilled researchers, professionals, and leaders from various disciplines in health research on emerging zoonoses using a One Health approach. The COHTPEZ is led by a pan-Canadian team of researchers from 6 Canadian universities with expertise in 3 priority areas: 1) Health, disease and sustainability, 2) Disease prevention, and 3) Disease preparedness and response.

 

The leadership team is supported by a team of mentors, co-applicants and advisers from several other Canadian universities, government agencies and non-profit institutions as well as international organizations. The successful candidate will join this dynamic team striving to increase access to existing One Health and Emerging Zoonoses training opportunities, developing and delivering new training modules and workshops, providing experiential learning opportunities, providing networking opportunities and ensuring that the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion are infused across the program and activities. Most importantly, the COHTPEZ will be guided by an indigenous advisory committee and supported by a bilingual virtual hub that will provide open access to online resources, serve as a repository of key materials for workshops, classes, and courses, and support ongoing dialogue and discussion.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a project management plan including risk mitigation
  • Monitor and report on program activities and milestones
  • Coordinate governance committee meetings and training delivery working group meetings
    • The PM will be a member of each technical working group as well as the executive committee
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the virtual hub (website)
    • Keeping the website current, ensure translation of materials, etc…;
  • Coordinate internal and external reports and other communications for the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) and funder;
  • Assist the director in managing finances and budgets
  • Coordinate the annual symposium in collaboration with the One Health training program on AMR
  • Coordinate trainees applications, including posting of opportunities, communication of decisions, etc…
  • Contribute to development of the program evaluation plan and coordinate evaluation activities and reporting
  • Ensure clear, timely and professional communication across the program team to keep everyone informed and updated on activities

 

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in an appropriate field (e.g. project management, biological sciences, environmental sciences, social sciences, public health, veterinary or medical sciences, etc.); Master’s Preferred.
  • At least 3 years experience in project coordination and management;
  • Excellent teamwork skills;
  • Excellent engagement and communication skills;
  • Good command of spoken and written French and English;
  • Experience coordinating an inter-disciplinary graduate program or course (asset)

 

This position will be between 24-28 hours per week.
