Duties and Responsibilities

The Marketing and Communications Specialist (MCS) is a key team member for the overall marketing, communication, website and social media activities for Student Housing Services (SHS). This position will contribute to the positioning and branding of the department to all stakeholders, both internal and external; students, prospective students, faculty and the community as a whole.

The MCS uses multiple platforms to reinforce the value of campus residence living as a key part of the university experience. In addition, the position produces communication materials for future and current residence students through print material (brochures, posters), digital media (website, mass email communicational, social media), university recruitment events, the Housing Portal, as well as numerous in-residence promotions.

The MCS designs and creates visual concepts, using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate each stakeholder group and ensures that all graphic design work adheres to both the branding guidelines of the department, the University of Guelph, and AODA accessibility requirements.  An important component of the digital marketing strategy for SHS is the dual social media presence – one for recruitment and marketing, and one for in-residence students to support residence life.
