General Purpose
The School of Continuing Studies (SCS) delivers and supports a range of in-demand and on-trend non-degree programming to serve the current and emerging needs of our internal and external communities, industries and partners. Through our programs and services, we share the expertise of the University of Guelph beyond the University’s boundaries to help build healthy, thriving and sustainable communities in the rapidly evolving context of our region. We are a revenue generating enterprise within the university.

We strategically integrate pedagogy with education technology in the design, development and delivery of our programs to provide engaging, efficient and accessible learning.
The SCS Professional & Workforce Learning & Innovation (PWLI) unit collaborates with industry, professional organizations and subject matter experts on the development and delivery of non-degree workshops, courses, micro-credentials, certificates, and diplomas serving over 5,000 enrolments in over 100 offerings. We work with partner organizations and industries to meet the needs of their employees through customized program offerings.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Professional & Workforce Learning & Innovation, the Manager, Program Development (MPD) provides expertise in adult education, curriculum design and program development that supports the design, development, implementation, and continued offering of a portfolio of micro-credentials, certificates and diplomas that extend the teaching and research expertise of the University to the global community and align with labour market demands.
The MPD develops partnerships with faculty and industry experts and works cross-functionally with other SCS units to lead the development and implementation of new courses and programs from inception to launch. This includes the development of program budgets and enrollment projections, ensuring academic rigor, curricular alignment, sound pedagogy and quality in the design, development and delivery of programs that meet an adult learning audience.
Requirements
The University recognizes that no one individual will have the following skills and experience in equal measure, but the qualifications below will be used to assess candidates:

A Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., education) and 3 to 6 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Expertise in adult education and lifelong learning initiatives.

Demonstrated skill in curriculum design and development, particularly for online modalities.

Creative and innovative.

Familiarity with D2L Brightspace, other educational technologies, and Modern Campus Extended Education (formerly Destiny).

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Interest in relationship building and engagement including corporate and industry partners and faculty.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills; ability to work with internal and external interest holders.

Demonstrated skill in financial management, budgeting and proposal writing.

Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work well under pressure during peak period and in an environment where many things are happening all at once.

Professional/Managerial Salary Bands
The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
