General Purpose

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Learner Success Advisor, the Learner Success Advisor Assistant (LSAA) provides administrative support to the School’s Learner Advising office. The LSAA helps to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the advising office by managing incoming emails and phone calls, triaging students’ needs, arranging appointments with the Learner Success Advisor and communicating University policies, rules and regulations to prospective and enrolled learners. The LSAA assists the Learner Success Advisor with regular advising-related tasks, such as assisting students with course selection, drafting confirmation of enrollment letters, submitting final grades, and maintaining confidential student records.

Requirements

The university recognizes that no one individual will have the following skills and experience in equal measure, but the qualifications below will be used to assess candidates:

  • A 2-year community college diploma and a minimum of 6 months of experience in a similar administrative role
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrated by previous customer service experience
  • Exceptional organizational skills with an ability to multitask
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to prioritize duties in response to student requirements, with frequent interruptions 
  • An ability to use tact and discretion in all communications with learners and their families
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, knowledge of Modern Campus Extended Education (formerly Destiny), Colleague and WebAdvisor are considered an asset
  • Previous experience with the University of Guelph as a student or in a student-facing role is considered an asset

 

Employee Type: Temporary  
Hourly rate: $26.17 - $29.24 per hour
