General Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Business & Service Operations, the Financial Analyst will provide professional accounting methods, financial expertise, analysis, support and guidance to the clerks, managers and directors in Physical Resources relating to operating and utilities budgets. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze and report information and financial solutions relating to the operating budgets for departments within Physical Resources.
  • Perform complex analyses of financial results against budget projections and provide analysis to managers and directors.
  • Analyze budget allocations, spending patterns and variances, and monitor compliance with university policies and government regulations.
  • Prepare journal entries and invoices for internal and external parties.
  • Create graphs and statistical information on key performance indicators.
  • Enhance the financial development and management of the Directorate by ensuring that best practices are achieved while meeting the Directorate’s and the University’s objectives.
  • Other related duties as assigned, including working closely with the Capital Accountant Manager and acting in their capacity in their absence.

 

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • CPA designation.
  • Several years of related experience, preferably in a university setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as a member in a team environment.
