General Purpose

Reporting to the Associate Director, Campus Planning & Asset Management, the Facilities Renewal Technologist develops and manage data related to facilities operational support including facilities inventory, facility condition assessments, building systems life cycle costs, scheduled and planned maintenance and campus plans / maps.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the campus facilities condition assessment program & database, including auditing all major building systems, documenting the condition, projecting expected useful life and obtaining planning budget estimates to support capital renewal and improvement projects
  • Contribute to the development of the annual Capital Plan by coordinating stakeholder meetings with various departments to gather information
  • Exporting and organizing the data for Physical Resources (PR) senior management to make data driven decisions about actioning the deferred maintenance and future capital planning
  • Coordinate with various facilities areas and the campus community to deliver requested building information and documents

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of a three-year community college diploma from a construction or architectural technologist program
  • Must be proficient in detailing, estimating, reading construction plans/ specifications, and site service locating
  • Must have basic knowledge architectural, mechanical, electrical & civil construction
  • Familiarity with facility methods and materials, related design and construction trades, the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA)
  • They must have knowledge of the principles, methods and tools in asset tracking of facilities including advanced analytical skills of facility management application.We require a team player with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, RS Means and the MS Office suite of software

 

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE EDGE?

  • OACETT, OAA Licensed Technologist or similar certification considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of Building Information modeling (Revit)
