General Purpose
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications, the Specialist is responsible for planning, creating, and executing compelling digital marketing and communications content that supports student recruitment and strengthens the College’s brand. This role is highly execution-focused, with a primary emphasis on social media, web, and other digital channels.
The Specialist develops and publishes engaging written, visual, and multimedia content—including short-form video, photography, graphics, and copy—for use across social platforms, websites, email, and digital campaigns. They play a key role in day-to-day content execution, supporting integrated marketing initiatives and contributing to digital and print materials.
The ideal candidate is a creative, self-starting content producer with strong digital storytelling skills and hands-on experience in social media and multimedia content creation. They bring a practical understanding of digital marketing best practices, platform-specific content, and audience engagement, and are comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Some evening or weekend work outside regular hours may be necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and execute OAC’s social media presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X, including content scheduling, community monitoring, and performance reporting, while staying current on digital and social media trends.
- Create engaging, high-impact digital content, including short-form video, photography, graphics, and written copy using design and video production tools to drive awareness, engagement, and recruitment outcomes.
- Publish web content in support of key communications initiatives, including profiles, news stories, videos.
- Provide training, guidance, and day-to-day oversight for co-op students supporting website and social media content, ensuring adherence to best practices and brand standards.
- Support and participate in recruitment, outreach, and brand-building events, including on-site and live content capture as required.
- Represent the OAC communications team at meetings and on committees, contributing digital and content expertise.
- Coordinate the monthly internal e-newsletter for faculty and staff, including content planning, writing, editing, layout, and distribution.
- Other duties as assigned. Some evenings and weekend work may be required.
Requirements
- University degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing, Media Studies preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 - 5 years of experience in digital marketing and communications
- Experience creating, posting and measuring engaging social media content, including paid digital marketing
- Strong verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated experience writing highly engaging content for internal and external audiences
- Video production experience and proficiency in video editing software considered an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments, possess sound judgment, and troubleshoot problems with a strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines;
- Well-versed in AODA accessibility standards as well as Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation [CASL]
- Intermediate to advanced use of current digital management tools including Google Analytics, social media platforms, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, Drupal, Microsoft Office
