General Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing & Communications in the College of Computational, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences (CCMPS), the Specialist will be responsible for the creation and execution of digital marketing and communications content including: social media, written and multimedia content (photography, video); website updates; and other digital tools for integrated marketing and communications initiatives to support strategic priorities of CCMPS at the University of Guelph. The candidate will collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders and have a passion for producing exceptional written and digital content to a variety of internal and external audiences. They will utilize digital trends/best practices to support an innovative digital presence geared towards building CCMPS presence and marketing as a new College at U of G. 

 

  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create, develop, and manage digital/social content for the College’s website, social media channels in alignment with University of Guelph brand and priorities.
  • Develop and implement paid and organic social media strategies to guide content marketing and communication needs for CCMPS audiences.
  • Monitor and report on metrics for web, social, and digital media initiatives to measure success.
  • Update CCMPS website and adjacent websites, as applicable, with SEO-optimized marketing content.
  • Use industry standard design tools and multimedia solutions to create meaningful AODA-compliant digital content for web and social media platforms that drive engagement within the intended target audience(s).
  • Capture impactful photos and videos to support recruitment and investment in CCMPS.
  • Champion digital media best practice, AODA compliance and appropriate institutional branding within CCMPS and its affiliated units.
  • Support the recruitment activities of CCMPS as needed, including through digital promotions, advertisements and event attendance.
  • Some evenings and weekend work may be required.

 

Requirements

  • Two-year community college graduation (University degree preferred), with a focus in Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing and/or Media Studies, along with 1-3 years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience creating, posting and measuring engaging digital media content in a professional setting.
  • Experience updating websites and optimizing content for search visibility.
  • An experienced writer, with strong verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated experience writing highly engaging content for internal and external audiences.
  • Photography and/or videography and post-production experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments, possess sound judgment, and troubleshoot problems with a strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines;
  • Understanding of AODA accessibility standards.
  • Experience using digital management tools including Google Analytics, social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Drupal, or related, in a professional setting.
  • Experience building paid digital media advertisements considered a strong asset.
