General Purpose
Reporting to the Director, Accreditation, Curriculum Development, and Learning Innovation, the Data Specialist (Accreditation) in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics provides consultation, data analysis, and technical expertise for all accreditation reporting requirements. This includes supporting the planning of data reporting cycles, managing the School’s accreditation software system, and contributing to the School’s comprehensive quality assurance systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Areas where the Data Specialist will provide analytical support, leadership and/or advice include:
- Developing and implementing databases, data collection systems, data analytics and strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality;
- Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets;
- Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases/data systems;
- Locating and defining new process improvement opportunities;
- Designing, recommending, and implementing robust processes, systems, and policies to collect evidence for accountability measures and strategic targets in support of accreditation as well as the School and University’s strategic plan.
Requirements
- Master’s degree (preference in analytics, computer and data analytics, information systems, business, or a similar field) and a minimum of two (2) year of similar work experience (or a commensurate combination of relevant education and work experience)
- Strong data management, database experience, and understanding of qualitative and quantitative methodology (experience with Academ and Tableau considered an asset);
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy;
- Technical expertise regarding data models information systems, and database design;
- Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings including the development of dashboards;
- Strong understanding of AACSB Accreditation standards;
- Ability to work well with others and work effectively as part of a team.
