CCS fosters a progressive, collaborative culture focused on continuous learning, professional development, and a strong commitment to its Core Values: Service Culture, Integrity, Individual Leadership, Teamwork, Agility, and Communication.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Classroom Technical Infrastructure within CCS, the Audio Visual (AV) Team Leader plays a key leadership role in the Classroom Technical Support team. This team is responsible for deploying, supporting, and optimizing audiovisual technologies in academic and administrative spaces, including classrooms, lecture halls, meeting rooms, and event venues. This position requires an on-campus presence during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.

The AV Team Leader collaborates with faculty, instructors, staff, and campus stakeholders to ensure reliable and effective AV operations that support high-quality teaching, hybrid learning, and campus events. Responsibilities include supervising AV technicians and student assistants, overseeing daily AV support operations, troubleshooting complex issues, coordinating technology upgrades, and providing training to end-users. The incumbent delivers expert-level support for projection systems, control systems, lecture capture, wireless collaboration, and hybrid conferencing platforms.

Requirements

  • Three-year college diploma in Audio-Visual Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Broadcast Technology, Computer Science, or Media Production. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Three (3) years of experience in AV installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting in classroom, boardroom, or event environments.
  • Proven experience supporting faculty, staff, or clients with integrated AV/IT presentation systems, including projectors, microphones, hybrid learning platforms, and lecture capture solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a technical support setting, including staff supervision, scheduling, task management, and mentoring.
  • Technical expertise with AV control systems such as Crestron, Extron, and QSC; and familiarity with network-based AV solutions and Dante audio networking.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR), Zoom, Webex, or comparable video conferencing platforms.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical users.
  • Valid G-class driver’s license for travel between campus locations.
  • Relevant certifications such as AVIXA CTS (CTS-I or CTS-D preferred), Dante Level 2 or 3, or Crestron/Extron programming are highly desirable.
  • Working at Heights Certification (or willingness to obtain) is required for ceiling-mounted AV installations.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in AV system integration, a passion for supporting technology-enhanced learning, and a commitment to responsive, client-focused service. This role is ideal for a technically skilled and team-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced academic environment and contributes both strategically and hands-on to advancing classroom and learning space technology at the University of Guelph.
