General Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications, the Assistant Manager, International Digital Marketing and Communications is responsible for ensuring that the University of Guelph meets its international enrolment and revenue targets. The incumbent manages digital communications for undergraduate international students from inquiries through to enrolment, supporting a nurturing a strong inquiry and applicant pool of committed and well-qualified international students. Inquiry and applicant growth expectations are to increase both by 50% between 2021 and 2023 by working with lead generators and digital application sources and by maximizing communications, strategically coordinating communications plans, drip campaigns and events communications to all unique international constituent groups. As a super-user this role also provides development and support to the team for the application cycle and CRM portal maintenance, and database administrator duties for the International Recruitment and Admissions team and works to evolve the functionality of database tools and efficiencies as needed by International Recruitment and Admissions.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The incumbent is organized, detail-oriented and requires a strong ability to write for the web ensuring SEO, act as a project manager, and ensure consistency and quality of content and campaigns. This is done by advancing and enhancing communications initiatives undertaken by the Admissions Services MARCOMMs team by collaborating with this team and University departments to support both a demand generation content strategy.
  • The incumbent exercises independent action and judgement in the strategic development and oversight of digital content within Admission Services, including all web content, customer relationship management system content develop and maintenance and the development and implementation of training and management of student staff with an understanding of analytics and optimization.
  • This role specifically collaborates with the International Recruitment and Admissions management team including the: Assistant Registrar, International Recruitment and Admissions, the Assistant Manager, International Recruitment, the Assistant Manager, International Admission and the Regional Operations Manager, Middle East and South Asia in driving strategic thoughtful leadership, data-driven marketing and digital recruitment proposals and the conception, development, formulation and dissemination of content across internal teams, vendors, channels, and target markets.
  • This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.

 

Skills and Experience: 

  • University degree, preferred area of study in marketing, communications, web writing
  • 2-3 years experience working in a Marketing and Communications role.
