General Purpose

Reporting to the Head Coach, Women’s Hockey, the Assistant Coach of the Gryphon Women’s Hockey Program helps to lead one of the Department’s most highly visible OUA and U Sports programs.

The Assistant Coach helps support all phases of a U Sports program, including, but not limited to: recruitment and retention of academically qualified student-athletes; overall program administration; annual and quadrennial planning, player development plans; community and alumni relations; team building; practice planning and execution; game preparation including video and data analysis; delivery of the technical aspects of coaching; budget management; equipment and supplies purchasing; and strict compliance with OUA/U Sports policies and procedures and rules and regulations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Coach is responsible to provide leadership and administration of the teams main revenue generation initiatives including; summer camp/clinics, minor hockey development programs and coaching clinics; the incumbent will help support local hockey organization player and coach development (Guelph Girls Hockey Association); In addition, the Assistant Coach will support alumni and donor fundraising initiatives.

Requirements

  • An Undergraduate degree along with minimum three years and upto 6 years' experience coaching at the high performance level (University, professional, CHL etc.).
  • NCCP High Performance Level I coaching certification or equivalent preferred.
  • A knowledge of and commitment to Safe Sport practices, transformational coaching, OUA/U Sports rules and regulations, and the student athlete experience are essential to this role.
