General Purpose
The Ontario Veterinary College's (OVC) Integrated College Services (ICS) is seeking a temporary full-time accounting clerk to become part of a dynamic and skilled financial services team.
Duties and Responsibilities
The accounting clerk is part of the larger financial group at the college who strive to ensure appropriate and optimal use of college financial resources. The most critical tasks involve journal entry processing, preparation and analysis of departmental financial reports, maintaining the college’s internal chart of accounts and other data tables, and supporting regular forecasting and budget processes. Other tasks include supporting regular financial transaction processing.
The scope of this position includes accounts for all departments across the OVC, which includes but is not limited to four academic departments, the office of the dean, research centers and institutes.
The accounting clerk is expected to provide excellent customer service to internal clients and ensure all transactions abide by the terms, conditions and regulations provided by the source of funds and by the policies and procedures of the University of Guelph and OVC ICS.
This position is part of a broader Financial Services team in OVC. All members of the financial services team at OVC are expected to participate in continuous improvement activities while providing productive input for consideration by management. Incumbents must be flexible to new processes and procedures. Confidentiality is imperative in all aspects of their work.
Requirements

Completion of a two-year community college program in accounting, bookkeeping, or business administration

Enrollment in CPA program is an asset.

Minimum 1-year working experience with accounting and/or bookkeeping.

Demonstrated experience with an enterprise accounting system.

Flexibility to learn new policies, processes, and software.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy is required.
