General Purpose

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Payment Services, the Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing invoices and payment requisitions from across campus.  With more than 60,000 invoices and payment requisitions processed annually, the Accounts Payable Clerk plays a critical role ensuring University operational needs are met.  As an important member of the Payments Services team, the Accounts Payable Clerk is expected to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, communication, organization and time management, and be capable of efficiently carrying out tasks in a high volume, deadline-driven environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Routing vendor invoices to the proper department, utilizing Enterprise Content Management platforms.
  • Audit approved invoices to ensure they are compliant with policies and procedures.
  • Assessing tax implications on payments to ensure proper treatment.
  • Resolving payment enquiries from departments and vendors.

 

Requirements

  • Two-year community college diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Management, or a related field.
  • One year of experience working in a high-volume accounts payable environment; experience in a post-secondary, government, or non-profit sector is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365.
  • Strong working knowledge of tax treatment, self-assessment rules, foreign currency exchange, and T4A/T4ANR regulations.
  • Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion in handling sensitive financial data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERP systems and system integrations.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to compose clear, concise, and professional correspondence.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
