Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Administrative Officer, the Academic Coordinator will support the School’s course-based masters programs, professional accreditation and professional practice course coordination. They will provide coordination between the School and the two professional accreditation organizations governing academic programs, including gathering data, conducting analysis, and preparing reports in accordance with accreditation requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for coordination of professional practice courses, matching students with appropriate professional practice placements, supporting students and workplace supervisors throughout the placement, managing Courselink sites, developing and grading assessments, coordinating experiential and field visits, gathering feedback from industry partners, and responding to student inquiries in accordance with University policies and procedures.

 

The incumbent will coordinate recruitment and marketing initiatives, including proactive outreach, international recruitment support, and promotion through knowledge mobilization, digital platforms, and targeted events. They will coordinate recruitment activities such as webinars, speaker series, networking and guest lectures, pre‑arrival supports, and represent the School at professional and industry events. The incumbent will support SEDRD’s digital and technical, and facilities operations by managing the Digital Media Lab, specialized equipment, and the student‑run plotter and print shop. Responsibilities include maintaining digital content, supporting student project production, coordinating equipment and building maintenance, managing digital photocopier usage, and ensuring appropriate training, supplies, and technical support are in place.

 

Requirements

Requirements of the position include: 2 years relevant work experience in program management, or recruitment & marketing and an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, or Capacity Development. A Masters degree is preferred. Must be eligible to hold membership/registration within a provincial professional association in landscape architecture or planning. Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with the professional accreditation requirements for landscape architecture and planning in Ontario and Canada, including knowledge of the core and functional competencies of the professional accreditation organizations. The incumbent must be knowledgeable about the policies and processes governing these professional associations at both the provincial and national levels, and familiar with the equipment, software, and applications used in professional practice of the accredited programs. Proficient in industry‑standard graphic software including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for student computer lab; experienced with Rhinoceros 8 3D modelling software; skilled in the use of surveying equipment such as transits, laser levels, measuring rods, and augers; and knowledgeable in teaching and learning technologies available within SEDRD, including 3D printing, CNC platforms, and desktop laser cutters. Candidate must hold experience in teaching competencies in landscape architecture, planning, and capacity development at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of graduate student policies and procedures, excellent organizational, time‑management, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a high‑volume, time‑constrained environment. The successful candidate will have strong communication, and teamwork skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel), Adobe Creative Suite, and commonly used academic, instructional, and production technologies such as CourseLink, Zoom/Teams, large‑format printers, plotters, and digital signage platforms.
